What is our Army of Hope?

Our 'Army of Hope' is made up of incredible individuals like you, who generously contribute to our $25 Difference program, supporting their local Salvation Army with monthly donations, whatever their means allow.

Behind each crisis, while unique in its form, there's a common thread: the faces of those impacted share emotions of fear, hopelessness, and despair. Some teeter on the edge of homelessness, while others struggle to afford basic needs like utilities or nutritious meals for their children.

Your commitment to this monthly cause directly transforms moments of despair into hopeful anticipation for a better future. Your contributions pave the way for our programs and services that support and assist individuals and families navigating these challenging circumstances. Your generosity helps us provide shelter, meals, utility assistance, and vital support systems, all pivotal in rebuilding lives and restoring hope.

Meet some of the individuals helped by The Salvation Army

Meet Mr. David:

A 71-year-old Denver, Colorado veteran referred to us by the VA Medical Center. Visually and auditorily impaired, he managed to tackle daily tasks independently but needed a helping hand. Mr. David found refuge in our Veteran Transitional Living Program, where he engaged in life skills classes and received meals, transportation aid, and crucial case management services.

With no belongings, our Case Management Specialist acted quickly to connect Mr. Douglas with resources for affordable housing and assistance in relocating his possessions from Colorado.

With our team's support, Mr. David soon transitioned to his very own new two-bedroom apartment! When we last spoke, Mr. David could not stop talking about how nice his apartment unit is and how excited he is to have visitors.

Meet the Dunn Family:

A single mom of three young children found sanctuary in our emergency shelter, seeking solace from homelessness. For ninety days, this precious family was embraced by comfort, safety, and unwavering support as they navigated the challenges of finding a home, transportation, and employment.

The children's excitement for having the opportunity to attend The Salvation Army's summer camp at Camp Hidden Lake was contagious! Our team ensured they were fully prepared for the experience, working tirelessly to equip them for this week-long, life-changing adventure.

Despite housing challenges, our Specialist persisted and found a subsidized apartment in a rural county. Their application was approved in July, marking a new chapter in their journey. And when funding hurdles arose, a local church partner stepped in, providing the necessary deposit!

Now, the Dunn Family resides in a safe, three-bedroom haven that echoes with their laughter and promises new beginnings.

The Salvation Army's mission is to meet human need wherever it exist. Our programs and community partnerships aim to fulfill immediate needs and foster long-term healing and stability, breaking the cycle of generational poverty by supporting the entire family.
